Guide: How your recommendation was calculated

Modified on Thu, 30 Jul at 9:42 AM

Short version: your answers + our install experience = a system that fits.

Your recommendation wasn't pulled from a generic chart. It came from a recommendation engine our team at MobileMustHave built ourselves — shaped by years of designing and installing off-grid power systems in real RVs, for real travelers. Here's what goes into it.

1. We start with your RV.

A motorhome, a fifth wheel, and a travel trailer are three very different install environments — different electrical connections, mounting options, and integration points. Your RV type and shore power service (30 amp or 50 amp) tell us which components and wiring are

correct

for your rig, not just compatible on paper. Details like this are easy to get wrong, and they're exactly the kind of thing our algorithm never misses.

2. Then, how you actually camp.

This is the heart of your recommendation. Weekend trips, extended boondocking, and full-time off-grid living put very different demands on a power system. Your usage answers let us right-size your system — enough capacity that power is never the thing limiting your trip, without paying for a system bigger than the life you're living.

3. Then every choice gets checked against every other choice.

As you configure — batteries, solar, generator setup, alternator charging — our engine quietly runs compatibility checks behind the scenes. If a choice you make needs more from the rest of the system, your recommendation adjusts so everything works together. The result is a complete, matched system: no surprise incompatibilities, no "you'll also need…" after checkout.

4. You always have the final say.

The recommendation is our team's best starting point — not a lock. You can compare tiers, change options, and build the system your way. And if your install includes a consultation, a real person from our team reviews your configuration before anything is finalized.

Why trust it?

Because it's not a quiz that spits out the most expensive option. Every rule in the engine was written and tuned by the same MMH team that designs and installs these systems every week — and we keep it sharp with modern smart tools and lessons from every install we complete. It recommends what we'd install in your RV if you were standing in our shop.
