  • RoamLink plans that utilize a physical SIM card or an eSIM in Peplink routers

Summary

One of the great benefits of the multi-carrier RoamLink plans is that it can connect to all major carriers. While it can often find the best network based on signal strength, sometimes you will need to manually steer to the desired network. This article will walk you through the steps to steer your RoamLink plan to a specific carrier on a Peplink router.

Please note: This setting may not always get you connected to the carrier you desire. It will not connect to a specific carrier If coverage for that carrier is not available at a given location, or if the quality of the signal is too poor.

Steering traffic

Identify the modem with the plan that you would like to steer to a specific carrier and click on it to open up the cellular details screen:

Scroll down to "Carrier Selection" under the SIM/eSIM in question and click on the question mark. Make sure you select the correct SIM/eSIM. You may need to use the side scroller bar to reveal the correct one:

You will be able to click "here" in the subsequent screen. That will open up more settings beyond just "Auto":

Click "Manual Select". In the next window, click "Scan" and allow it to scan for a couple of minutes.

Click on the network you would like to connect to, if it comes up as an option. Save and apply. Give it up to 20 minutes to reconnect. It likely will not take that long, but it will likely take at least a few minutes to reconnect, and you should allow for the full 20 minutes if it does take longer.

Keep in mind that if you no longer want to steer traffic to that network, you will want to undo what you have changed here or manually select a new network.
